Wine lovers wait all year round for Calici di Stelle, a successful event that celebrates its thirtieth anniversary in 2023. Every year, the event promotes the culture of quality wine and conscious drinking and gives support to the many Italian wine companies.
The night of San Lorenzo is famous for the meteor shower visible in the night sky and in some local traditions is associated with the grape harvest. As an old proverb says, 'San Lorenzo cooks the grapes and the must', i.e. the saint's heat ripens the grapes and encourages fermentation. This August night, with its starry sky and meteorites, is a particularly striking occasion to celebrate the culture of wine and the beauty of nature during the summer.
An event of national and international importance
Organised by the 'Movimento Turismo del Vino', Calici di stelle involves participating wine cellars and wineries, offering tastings of wines and typical products, accompanied by music and shows, attracting tourists from all over the world. Numerous wineries, squares and cities throughout Italy are preparing to welcome wine enthusiasts for "a pleasant evening that combines wine culture with astronomy and entertainment, with a festive atmosphere to act as an overarching theme". The stunning setting of the Castle of Conegliano has often hosted the event, and this year too there will be tastings of the characteristic Prosecco Superiore DOCG and specialities of the Marca Trevigiana such as the formajo Inbriago or the typical ossocollo.
